TREVISO, BENETTON and an OLD JAIL

Hey you, today we are here again, speaking about Treviso and Benetton family.

We are sure that at least once, you have about an apparel brand called “United Colors of Benetton” but we are sure that you don’t know that this brand is coming from Treviso, or better, Ponzano Veneto which is a little village very close to Treviso.

Now you can easily understand that there’s a long relation among the city of Treviso and Benetton family.

There’s a particular joining link called “Gallerie delle Prigioni” [Prisons’ Galleries], a spectacular exhibition place in Treviso, completely and deeply refurbished by Benetton Family, opened just in April 2108, after a long time being closed.

Before being the courthouse of Treviso in the past century, it was the jail of Treviso during the Austro-Hungarian period.

And now you can visit this impressive building, having your special chance for a two-at-a-time different visit: on one side you can a step back in the past, visiting and old jail, passing from one corridor to another, looking into the cells and trying to imagine how life could be there about one century and a half ago; and on the other side you can admire the magnificent “Imago mundi” [imagines of the world] , that’s a huge collection of 10x12cm frames collected all around the world during his travel, made by important and famous artists, as well as rising ones.

Try to figure out what an astonishing feeling, being in an old jail, surrounded by beautiful tiny images (periodically changed)

designed by different artists around the world, walking back and forth in old corridors encircled by art installation…. dream…
