TREVISO & NY TIMES

TREVISO & NY TIMES

This week is mandatory speaking about the article about Treviso, written by Mr Jason Horowitz for NY Times Travel.
Put Off by Venice’s Crowds? Try the Oasis Next DoorShould tourism be limited in overcrowded European cities? The author ponders the issue as he explores Treviso, V…

Basically the article says that Treviso is a lovely and nice town, better, he  defines Treviso as an Oasis (wow!), an oasis just half an hour from Venice and that it could be a wonderful option rather than the famous and inflated city of Venice.

That’s exactly the same concept we said – and we are still saying – to our customers since many years, because Treviso worths!

And having a tour with a licensed guide worth even more, because otherwise  you can enjoy just the 15% of the amazing things offered by this lovely but dense city.

Do you want a couple of quick and easy reasons to choose Treviso instead Venice?

Treviso is really older compared to Venice, its first inhabitants are dated back centuries before Venetian ones.

And then, in Treviso there’re several proofs of Roman Empire … we dare you to find any Roman proof in Venice downtown!

Ok, not enough … we know it…  what about the many names of the city of Treviso?  It’s often call “the city of water”, “little Venice”, “Venice for the Poor”, “city of fountains”…. ok, but .. do you know why?

Anyway, now we try to set the bar higher…

Do you know that Treviso is the city of frescoes? Do you know how many frescoes are here? And do you know why there’s such a large number of them? Do you their meaning and their symbolism? Have you ever thought to walk in Treviso keeping your nose in the air?

Wait, wait! I hear you saying “please, come on… stop with history, architecture and all these not funny issues”. Ok, you are right… we move a little bit forward…

Which is the most famous cake in the world? Do you know that the most famous cake in the world was born in Treviso? Ok, guys… we can’t believe you don’t know the name, even because we are sure that each of you you had tried it at least once in your life…  So, it’s time you eat a real and genuine Tiramisu in Treviso and maybe you can have a Tiramisu class exactly here, just to get your certificate fo attendance.
TIRAMISU EXPRESS EXPERIENCECOOKING CLASS different duration according to the class Tiramisu express experience (workshop) minimum 2 pax rea…

But speaking about food and beverage, we have to speak about Radicchio  (red salad) from Treviso or Castelfranco, the green or white asparagus from Bassano del Grappa and Cimadolmo and Badoere, the pepper from Zero Branco, Casatella (fresh and soft spreadable cheese) from Treviso, Aperol (the alcoholic aperitif) from Bassano del Grappa and as well the famous Spritz cocktail.  And again the big chestnuts from Combai, Prosecco (the sparkling white wine) coming from Valdobbiadene, Bibanesi (breadstick) from Bibano, Grappa (schnapps) from Treviso Hills area, Beans from Lamon and Peas from Grappa. Mouth watering???  Yes, of course!

Please, a step back … everybody knows the “fountain of the boobs” but what’s her history? And, just for equity, there’s another funny fountain in town, this time representing a man… and what’s the legend behind in this case?

Ok, now that we are wondering around the city, we are sure you realized there’re so many watermills … no? come on!!! Look at there, there and even there, and there again…. anyway, why do we need so many water mills?

We could continue speaking about churches with famous inhabitants, places named in the Divine Comedy by Mr Dante Alighieri, a church built in only 7 centuries, a painting showing a tool for the very first time ever, tower bell built as military towers, building built directly into the water using the same technique in Venice, stores saving proofs of memory, columns of colonnade showing us something very important …

Do you want some more? Now we have a rest with a Tiramisu slice and a glass of Spritz bu you… You need to plan a trip to Treviso, it’s time to come here, visit this lovely town, walk our streets, see our beauties, drink our water, try to be a real Treviso people for at least a couple of day… don’t worry, we have got tons of solution to make you spend your time here in a very nice and pleasant way.
